Warehouse Technician – Fixed Term Contract – Until mid September 2024

24 hours per week (any three days from seven) with possibility of overtime and potential for permanent position for the right candidate.

We’re partt way through another busy summer, as we produce events and supply rental equipment to customers right across the country. To help support our warehouse team, we’re looking for extra staff, on a fixed-term basis, to help prepare equipment for our customers.

Our warehouse technicians aim to give all new and existing customers a great level of service, in a professional and timely manner. A good level of knowledge and experience of either lighting, sound or AV equipment is desirable, but not essential. More importantly, we’re after a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team. Sometimes, due to the nature of our work, preparation of equipment is time critical, so its important to liaise with the Warehouse Manager and report any issues as soon as possible.

We’re based at Follingsby Park, Gateshead, where our technicians deal with the day-to-day operations and logistics of our warehouse, preparing technical equipment and staging.

Hours: 24 per week over three days (variable each week). The nature of our work means that our days are not always 9-5, so early starts and late finish’s may be required to help get customer rentals prepared on time. Opportunities for overtime may also be available on evenings and weekends, depending on our customer requirements.

Main Tasks

  • Dealing directly with customers & clients, face to face and by telephone.
  • Understanding the availability of equipment for hire by using the systems and procedures in place.
  • To have a good working knowledge of the Lighting, Sound and AV products we own
  • Picking and packing equipment from lists
  • Some possible working on site to setup and take down lighting, staging, sound and audio visual equipment.
  • Checking equipment which has been returned from customers and returning to stores
  • Assist with repairs to equipment
  • Ensure that the warehouse remains clean, tidy and a safe working environment.
  • Delivery and Collection of hire equipment.
  • To represent the company in a professional and responsible manner at all times.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience of a similar role or environment.
  • Open to flexible working and unsociable hours, including evening and weekends
  • Good team player
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good communicator and professional at all times
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • A good level of IT literacy.
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs or equivalent

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Current UK driving licence – no more than six points
  • Counterbalance fork-lift licence
  • Category BE on driving licence (towing)

Additional Information

  • Reports to Warehouse Manager
  • Fixed term contract at 24 hours per week until mid September
  • Wage is in line with NMW
