Durham Uni – Hild Bede Winter Ball

The events committee at Hild Bede College, one of the largest colleges at Durham University, needed a compact performance area for the variety of guest performers at their 2018 Winter Ball. The space was to provide both sound and lighting as well as providing enough floor area to accommodate the artists. The hugely ambitious event was themed around Harry Potter and featured decoration by the students including towering sculptures of the four Houses of Hogwarts, wall cloths painted with scenes from the movies throughout the building and a fantastic main hall display of drapes and crests. As well as the performance space, we provided two runs of Mojo safety barrier to protect the stage and the edge of a raised walkway running the length of the hall. The barrier was particularly welcomed by the University Health and Safety inspectors, who commented on the forethought of the committee in providing this protection.

The Prolyte Truss structure was designed by our team to provide a solid, safe platform to suspend as many lighting fixtures as possible. A StarCloth was hung on the back of the truss and the PA was stacked at each front leg of the truss.
